Organizational teams are like organisms: they are constantly evolving. Fifty years ago a manager at Proctor and Gamble published an article in the company's newsletter to help other people in his company to more effectively manage their teams as they evolve. The ideas in that article spread like wildfire to companies all over the world. The basic idea is that there are five steps in the ladder toward peak performance. And teams have to climb up that ladder in order to become high performing.
